Synopsis

A vibrant mix of films that refuse to fit a single mold. From dark comedy to intimate drama, surreal tension to raw realism, this block showcases the remarkable range of women directors at the top of their game, including filmmakers with premieres at Sundance, SXSW, and other major festivals. The Films: • Out For Delivery – 16:29 When terminally ill Joanna hires a “death doula,” her plan for a peaceful end goes awry. • Lemon – 14:47 When an agoraphobic mother dies suddenly, her six-year-old daughter is left alone in a house she’s never been allowed to leave. The weekend takes a turn after an incident with his dad, sending Pia into a spiral of self-doubt and confusion causing her to flee from the house… but not before taking matters into her own hands. • The Things We Keep – 14:53 A woman returns home to care for her estranged mother and face unresolved trauma. • My Favorite Murderer – 9:11 A true-crime fan’s obsession gets real when new evidence emerges. GA $12 “Films Worth Freezing For” AIFF’s mission is to develop, promote and sustain a film festival that supports new media and independent film making in Alaska and around the world while enriching cultural and entertainment opportunities for Alaskans. Our nonprofit organization continues to play a part in expanding film screening and production opportunities throughout the state. By bringing filmmakers from all parts of the country and world to Alaska, we want artists to connect with people they might not otherwise meet, and engage audiences in workshops, screenings, and plenty of celebratory parties.
